LIVING WITH DEPRESSION

This picture book set focuses on understanding depression. The texts include characters who have experienced traumatic events that have left them sad, scared, and alone. While the texts depict how injury, loss, and separation can lead to depression, they also illustrate how these depressive periods ebb and flow eventually leading back to feelings of peace, calm, and security.  

LANGUAGE ARTS STANDARDS

Each of the text sets can be used to meet the Reading: Literature Standards for grades K-8. 

Additionally, the activities associated with the text sets can be used to meet many of the Speaking and Listening Standards for grades K-8.
