THINKING ABOUT RACE, ETHNICITY, AND IDENTITY

This picture book set focuses on understanding how race and ethnicity influence identity. Each of the texts features diverse characters who celebrate their racial and ethnic identities despite experiencing prejudice and discrimination. In addition to the 11 core books in this text set, there is a supplemental unit that includes 6 additional texts. 

LANGUAGE ARTS STANDARDS

Each of the text sets can be used to meet the Reading: Literature Standards for grades K-8. 

Additionally, the activities associated with the text sets can be used to meet many of the Speaking and Listening Standards for grades K-8.
